New Dedicated Weight-Bearing Open MRI

Redefining the Patient Experience

For Immediate Release
October 10, 2017

Tampa, Florida: Tower Radiology Centers, the largest outpatient radiology practice in Tampa Bay, is proud to announce the addition of a New Dedicated Weight-Bearing Open MRI with its revolutionary design. The open and tilting design is an innovative way of performing MRI in which the position of the patient becomes an integral part of the outcome of the examination all while providing great patient comfort. MRI imaging in a natural, standing position allows the force of gravity to generate bio-mechanical changes in anatomy to obtain significant details such as a disc herniation or “pinched” nerve that can become stressed under compression and might otherwise not be visible with a traditional MRI performed only in a lying down position. This New Dedicated Weight-Bearing Open MRI will be available at Tower Radiology Center – Bruce B. Downs located at 3069 Grand Pavilion Drive in Tampa.

“The weight-bearing open MRI technology is new to Tower Radiology Centers. We’re excited to offer our providers and their patients this incredible technology. It’s nice to add another open MRI option to our imaging system that has the capability to perform MRI exams in a stand up position.” – CEO of Tower Radiology Centers, Larry Smith
